Recently announced that on July 31st 2020 we will witness Daniel Espinosa (Life, Safe House) take on the Living Vampire Morbius. This will be Sony’s second spin-off of the Spider-Man Franchise (Venom: which earned $855 million globally) and will star Jared Leto and Adria Arjona.
But as of earlier today Matt Smith will join the cast, Smith best known for his role as the Eleventh Doctor, but like his upcoming Star Wars IX appearance character details are unknown for Matt Smith in Morbius.
Little details are given on the plot , but the Comic Origin of Morbius centers on Dr. Michael Morbius (played by Leto in the film). A scientist who suffered from a rare blood disease and attempted to cure himself, by using the DNA of a Vampire Bat. Things of course go horribly wrong and Dr Morbius ends up turning himself into a living vampire. After several fights with Spider-Man, realizes he still has some parts of his humanity and eventually becomes something of a hero himself.
Morbius was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane. First appearance was Amazing Spider-Man No. 101(1971)
