Newly announced that the highly-anticipated anti-superhero/horror film, Brightburn, will be a ‘R’ rated. Helmed by Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn, we will get a glimpse of what would happen if that Superman-like character didn’t stand for truth and justice.
Based on early views of the trailers, that R rating looks well deserved with a walk on the very dark side.
What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.
David Yarovesky directed Brightburn from a screenplay penned by Brian Gunn and Mark Gunn; the film stars Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, and Matt Jones. Brightburn takes over US theaters beginning May 24th.
