James Wan is tackling Stephen King’s vampire novel Salem’s Lot with Gary Dauberman who will write the script and serve as executive producer, along with Roy Lee and Mark Wolper for New Line.
Unfortunately, Wan states he will only produce the feature with some writing contributions, but as of now no director has been attached to the project
The book Salem’s Lot was published in 1975 is about an author who returns to his hometown in order to write about an abandoned mansion that has been bought by a mysterious stranger from Europe. During the course of his tail he slowly realizes that the townspeople are being turned into vampires. The writer bands together with the surviving townspeople to confront the stranger.
This will be the first theatrical release of Salem’s Lot but not the first time it has been seen on screen it was adapted for TV in 79, 87 and 2004 as a miniseries. But with Wan and Dauberman coming off several successful opening weekends, it may be one of the best adaptions yet.
